"SUPERWOMAN OF JAZZ" MAKES SPECIAL PORTLAND APPEARANCE

Sue Terry Jazz saxophonist and composer "Sweet" Sue Terry gave a solo saxophone performance at Eco Trust/Jean Vollum Natural Capital Center on Thursday, Oct. 4. The New York-based saxophonist has performed at major venues worldwide, including The Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland; The Grande Parade Du Jazz in Nice, France; The Pori Jazz Festival in Finland, and The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

National Public Radio says "she's been compared to the great alto players like Charlie Parker and Phil Woods… Sue Terry exemplifies excellence with a commanding sense of swing and a burnished tone." She's called the "Superwoman of Jazz" by the Hartford Courant, and "simply extraordinary!" by Die Wahrheit, Berlin, Germany. Her forty album discography includes her releases "Bandleader 101," "Gilly's Caper" and "Pink Slimy Worm" on Qi Note Records. She's featured in the books "Madame Jazz" and "Reed All About It."
